With reference to international standards, TFDA has established the “Taiwan Guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practice for Health Supplements” to support the GMP certification system. The framework includes the following elements: qualified and trained personnel; appropriate premises and equipments to enable effective cleaning and maintenance in order to avoid cross-contamination; and standardized procedures with adequate training to ensure that product quantity and quality meet expected specifications; any significant deviations shall be fully recorded and investigated. Complaints about marketed products shall be reviewed, and the causes of quality defects investigated, with appropriate measures taken to address the issues and prevent recurrences.
TFDA continues to provide the training courses and consultation services to help manufacturers become more familiar with the Guidelines. These efforts are expected to gradually improve the quality management and strengthen the international competitiveness of domestic health supplement manufacturers in Taiwan.]]>
